Flowers

In her second collection, Janja Prokić brought great playfulness, creativity and imagination into the hands of her clients, who could compose their very own jewel. “I’ve been scribbling flowers into my notebook since I was a teenager. They’re incredibly varied, be it in colours or shapes. You change one detail and practically create a different flower,” introducing her idea. “And that’s exactly what I wanted – to give people the opportunity to cultivate their own flower through this collection.”

The blooms in the collection are invented by the author and are not fundamentally real. However, the main four are named after existing plants – the cherry tree, fuchsia, linden and mistletoe. Every flower consists of three individual parts - the stem, petals and pistils with stamens. They fit together and may be arbitrarily combined.

The central jewel of the collection is a unique, massive bracelet composed of thirty-six flower-pieces, singular and original. Beside this and the puzzle pieces, the romantically-spirited Flowers collection contains rings with buds and sprouts, necklaces with pearls on a silk string or solid bracelets which can also be worn as behind-ear earrings.

“I also narrowed the collection to a combination of blossoms which appeal to me most. This for those clients who don’t have such a fertile imagination or a clear idea about their flower,” adds Janja on the final appearance of the collection.

Bloom resembling cherry tree, a symbol of love and the circle of life and death. Bloom resembling fuchsia, the light of the soul. Bloom resembling linden, a guardian tree against evil spirits. Bloom resembling mistletoe, a doorway to the other. A plant between light and darkness, between spring and winter.

Regression.
You are my escape to childhood.
Together.

Every memory tolls like a bell. To play!
I think of grandpa’s room, of the curtains. The viola!

he picture hanging above the bed.
A Child.
Of the cupboard which used to be our shelter.
In the backyard.
And then I am in Ujezd again.
I want you.
I would like to reach my star.
Up there.
But, it’s too far.

Mistletoe
I’d like to have your veins
Like a bundle of mistletoe, here on my temple.
These eyes of mine, I want them.
And the hair of a fairy.
A small one from the sea,
Like the trembling of breeze.

Cherry tree
I’d like to have your palms
Hands tender as cheery tree blossoms.
To be able to look resolute
As seafarers among worlds.

Fuchsia
I don’t want to be flawless like you,
I want your pride instead, if I err.
As fuchsia to be thermophile,
Without that angry hardness in my eyes.

Linden
I’d like to blossom like lindens in summertime
To allure you with the heady scent.
To give love in every sentence
Like you
And be able to defend myself in sadness
Like her.

The Flowers collection received the second place award in the Czech Grand Design competition in 2012.
